Energy Audit
An energy audit is the process of having a professional energy engineers assess your building for energy management opportunities (EMOs). Once an energy audit is completed, an energy audit report is developed, which will layout all of the viable EMOs in your facility and lead you to reduced energy costs.
During the energy audit, an energy auditor will visit your site and interview your facility manager, inspect your lighting, air conditioning, heating and ventilation equipment, controls, refrigeration, air compressors, water consuming equipment, and anything else that is using energy. Depending on the level of the audit, the auditor may take measurements of temperatures, pressures, light levels, power draw, and other things.
An energy audit report typically contains the following:
• Description of the existing conditions
• Description of the proposed EMOs
Category I – involving housekeeping measures which are improvements with practically no cost investment and no disruption to building operation;
Category II – involving changes in operation measures with relatively low cost investment;
Category III – involving relatively higher capital cost investment to attain efficient use of energy.
• Estimated annual savings associated with the EMO
• Estimated cost to implement the ECM
• Simple payback, ROI, and/or life cycle savings for each EMO
